Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Phoenix is the only Gracie University, Certified Training Center in Phoenix. Our mission is to provide the highest level of self-defense instruction in a positive, healthy, and safe environment. Our instructors are dedicated to providing each of our students with the best possible instruction and support. We strive to ensure that each of our students receive the best self-defense instruction and experience available, in group or private lessons.
Adam Ideson has been practicing Gracie Jiu-Jitsu since 2010. After achieving success in the corporate business world, Adam has turned his passion for the art of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu into a full-time occupation, dedicating himself to the study of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu and sharing this art and lifestyle with others. Adam graduated the Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Academy Instructor Certication program in 2013. Although his dedication to Gracie Jiu-Jitsu can been seen in every class he teaches, Adam’s biggest passion has been found in working with the children enrolled in the Bullyproof programs. With patience and genuine care for each student, he strives to provide his students with the skills they need to become self-confident, well-rounded members of their community.
Justin Koester has been practicing Gracie Jiu-Jitsu since 2013 and graduated from the Gracie Jiu-Jitsu University Instructor Certification Program in July 2015. Justin instructs in the Bullyproof and Gracie Combatives programs. Justin’s favorite thing about learning and teaching Gracie Jiu-Jitsu are the relationships on and off the mat that have been established through his journey. He enjoys the self-defense base of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu and looks forward to passing that on to both adults and kids in the Combatives and Bullyproof programs.
Darin Mowery started training in martial arts in 1977. Darin started studying Gracie Jiu-Jitsu in 2011 and graduated from the Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Academy Instructor Certification Program in 2013. Darin is also certified in the GST Gracie Survival Tactics) program for law enforcement, Level I and II. Before retiring from the Tempe Police Department, Darin was the AZ POST Defensive Tactics Instructor for Law Enforcement.
When he found himself unable to just sit and watch on the sideline while his son and daughter were learning and having fun in the Bullyproof program, David began his Jiu-Jitsu journey. Having competed as a wrestler in high school and college, David was easily drawn to the art of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu. David earned his Blue Belt in 2014 and immediately decided to become a Certified Instructor. David graduated from the Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Academy Instructor Certification Program in July 2015 and now instructs in the Bullyproof and Gracie Combatives programs.
